Since its creation, Bertin Alpao has revolutionized the optics industry by developing adaptive optics components and systems to correct optical aberrations.
Founded in 2008 by three researchers from the Grenoble Institute of Planetology and Astrophysics (IPAG).
The company has grown from a research project into a worldwide leading company in optical aberration correction, combining scientific excellence with industrial reliability.
Bertin Alpao designs and manufactures a complete range of high-performance deformable mirrors, wavefront sensors and tailor-made adaptive optics systems, developed to meet the most demanding technical requirements. Our solutions enable real-time correction of optical distortions, delivering ultra-high-resolution imaging, enhanced optical accuracy and minimal signal loss.
Bertin Alpao serves a wide range of cutting-edge markets including astronomy, space, optical and quantum communications, microscopy, ophthalmology, lasers, semiconductors and defense.
With a strong commitment to research and development, and close collaborations with leading universities, laboratories and industrial partners worldwide, our technologies is currently deployed in some of the world’s most prestigious observatories and research infrastructures. Thanks to the commitment of our teams, we continuously pushes the boundaries of adaptive optics performance.
In July 2024, Bertin Alpao was acquired by the Bertin Technologies Group, a European industrial group specialized in high-end instrumentation for critical and scientific applications.
With an international presence across Europe, the United States and Asia, Bertin Technologies designs and manufactures measurements and observation components , equipment and systems for high valued added markets such as Defence and Security, Civil Nuclear and Environment, Space and Big Science, and Life Sciences. Joining the group strengthens Bertin Alpao’s industrial capabilities, long-term vision and innovation capacity, while preserving its agility and technological leadership in adaptive optics.
Together with Bertin Winlight, Bertin Alpao is now part of the Group’s Photonic Division and works hand in hand on collaborative projects in astronomy, defense and laser communications.
